as an American living in Australia, I am a long-haul flight away from some of my dearest people & places. each lipstick is named after a place I cherish, a token of connection to my favourite places around the world.
Fort Collins, batch 25, is an ode to my hometown in Colorado. I recently visited to catch up with family & friends.
mountains to the West, the smell of fresh sweet grass, & a big warm welcome from my family & friends. oh so good to be back in Colorado.
it’s early summer & there are still snow caps on the highest peaks. the ski resorts are closed for the season, however whenever we drive up the canyons my dad insists on bringing his skis “just in case we find a quick run!” - sure enough, we spot the avid bunch, hiking uphill to enjoy the last few patches of icy goodness. “next time dad...”
back in Fort Collins, Old Town is in full bloom. potted flowers in every colour sprinkle the sidewalks, the bushy green trees hang lusciously over the streets. gardeners are tending quietly. I’m reminded of how fleeting the flowers are in Colorado, how some must be replanted every spring after the chilly winters.
the outdoor patios in the afternoons are flooded with people enjoying their delicious Colorado craft beers & chatting up a storm with their colleagues. the debate continues on which brewery has the best amber ale (Odell’s, am I right?) & who makes the best sour (New Belgium, obviously).
a delicious run around the lake, those snow caps still making me smile after 12 days, followed by a quick dip in the pool. it’s such a treat to visit. while saying goodbye never gets easier, what a joy that I have two paradises to call home.
Fort Collins, batch 25; a caramel coral that nods to the mountain sunsets & relaxed style of Colorado.
