fresh mangos, dips in the ocean, afternoon chilled rosés… summer here we come (soz Northern hemisphere)!
the ‘tropical’ resort 2019 lipstick collection includes Montserrat, a russet orange, & James St, a dusty pink.
Montserrat lipstick (for the O.G. fans, a fresh take on Gaga’s island) nods the gorgeous Caribbean island where my grandma Gaga used to live. I have fond memories of visiting her; waking up to fresh mangos for breakfast, watching the locals shimmy up palm trees to harvest coconuts, hiking with my family to hidden waterfalls, & best of all, joining Gaga for her nightly skinny dip ("come on Mol, the water's great!").
to create the russet orange colour, I blended red & yellow iron oxides then brightened with a titanium dioxide white. the result is a bold, warm orange, I'm obsessed already.
James St lipstick nods to the tropical precinct we have here in Brisbane, just 5 minutes down the road from where I manufacture in New Farm. the lush oasis features incredible Australian designers, delicious coffee haunts, & the exciting new Calile Hotel. bee-line straight for the Lobby Bar & order a rosé, stat.
the original James St colour was a bright pink, however for this vintage I gave it a ‘dusty’ update. I blended red iron oxide, titanium dioxide white, & ‘cooled’ the hue down with a purple manganese violet.
relaxed, summer looks call for shades that can be worn on both lips & cheeks, day & night. Montserrat & James St of course fit the bill; coffees to cocktails, beach to bistro.
much love & thanks to my dear friend Aziza, visiting from Colorado at the time, for modelling the collection. the shoot was FULL of laughs, quickly followed by a stern “can we eat the mangos already!?” to which I happily obliged.
